The PADI IDC and IOC programs enable you to become a fully qualified PADI Instructor. Our IDC's and IOC's are conducted in English but can be translated into Indonesian, Dutch or German depending on your needs.
Completely equipped with all the latest training aids, our own pool and the ocean only a few meters away, you'll find our facilities amongst the best in the area along with helpful staff around to answer your questions. The experience and dedication our staff bring to your training sessions will make success at the IDC, IOC and IE the least of your worries, allowing you to focus on becoming a well trained Instructor ready to enter a competitive market place

If you're already an Instructor with another organization and planning to take the IOC you may find that you need to take all the modules listed in the IDC schedule. Please drop us a line so we can discuss a schedule that will help achieve your goal in becoming a PADI Instructor.


Course Pre-requisities

To enrol in an IDC course you must first meet these requirements.

  • Be certified as a PADI Dive Master or hold an Instructor level certification with one of the following recreational Diver Organizations; BSAC - Club Instructor or higher, CMAS - two or three stars, FAUI, IDEA, Los Angeles County, MDEA, NAUI, PDIC, SSI, SAA - Instructor Grade 2 or higher or YMCA (others may qualify - contact PADI or Blue Marlin for verification), or be a diver with proof of certification in diver supervision and management including proof of rescue diving certification.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be fit for Diving and submit a medical statement for a diving medical examination which has been conducted within the past 12 months. A licensed physician must sign the form and state that the candidate is fit for diving.
  • Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have completed and logged at least sixty open water scuba dives with documentation of experience in navigation, night and deep diving.
  • Submit proof of first aid training with CPR completed within the last 24 months.
  • Submit documentation of any equivalent entry level, advanced, rescue or leadership level certification issued by another recreational diver training organization. (PADI members who have theses records on file at PADI do not need to re-submit).
  • If not a PADI Dive Master, successfuly completed the diver rescue skills assessment section of the PADI Dive Master Course.

Independent Learning Pre-requisities.

Prior to the start of an Instructor Development Course, OWSI program, an Individual must complete all sixteen IDC knowledge reviews.

Completing knowledge reviews maybe accomplished by self-study using the PADI Instructor Manual, Business of Diving, Law and the Diving Professional, the best of the Undersea Journal and refering to recent Undersea Journal articles in the Instructor Candidate Workbook, or you can work together with us on the free preparation days.

To be fully prepared for the IDC, we also recommend you:

  • Make sure your skill demonstrations are up to scratch.
  • Use the Diving Knowledge Workbook to review the five theory modules ( Physics, Physiology, Skills & the Environment, Equipment and the RDP).
  • Review your Instructor Manual, Aquatic Cue Cards and all manuals from Open Water to Dive master including the quizzes from each course.
  • Prepare for the initial lectures and save your self some time during the IDC by completing knowledge reviews in the Instructor Candidate Workbook.

What should I bring to the IDC?

  • Three passport sized photos. ( you can get them from us for 20 000 rp )
  • Medical Examination Certificate
  • MFA completed within the last two years ( if not, ask us to get updated! )
  • Log book with evidence of at least sixty dives. (note: for IE 100 logged dives)
  • All certification cards or certificates from Open Water to Divemaster (or equivalent)
  • Tuition fees.

Please let us know before hand if for any reason, you do not have any of the above.


IDC Performance Requirements

To successfully complete a PADI IDC, you must meet the following performance requirements:

  • Attend and participate in all twenty curriculum presentations.
  • Present a minimum of four development teaching presentations and score a 3.5 or higher on at least one presentation.
  • Present a minimum of at least four confined water teaching presentations and score a 3.4 or higher on at least one presentation.
  • Present a minimum of two integrated (two skills each, four total) open water teaching presentations and score a 3.5 or higher on each skill.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing all twenty dive skills listed on the Skill Evaluation. Candidates must earn sixty eight total points, with no individual score below three.
  • Perform a facedown, non stop swim for 800 meters/ 500 yards using a mask, snorkel and fins.
  • Score 75 percent or higher on all five sections of the Intructor pre-assessment exam.

Free Preparation Days

We wish to give you every opportunity to be fully prepared for the upcoming IDC and IE, particularly in the areas of skill development and Instructor level theory. To better prepare for this, we are offering free of charge to all our candidates.

TWO FREE PREPARATION DAYS

These two days will give you the benefit of having one on one tuition with a Course Director or Staff Instructor to review any areas where you feel you lack confidence. No pressure or distractions, just plenty of quality time to get comfortable with the material. We will also provide you the opportunity to work with actual students enabling you to fine tune your teaching skills. Below is a sample of what material will be discussed but feel free to let us know if there are any areas you would like us to cover.

  • Dive Theory review, questions and answer session.
  • Pool session, review of the twenty skills. Tanks and weights provided free.
  • Review of modules from Open Water Course or sections of the Instructor manual.
  • Review of General Standards and Procedures.
  • Rescue demonstration.
  • Review of all PADI videos.
  • Academic presentation and confined water evaluation. * AI's only.
