With beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise waters, GILI MENO is an authentic Indonesian gem that serves as a gentle reminder of a simpler way of life. The smallest and quietest of the three Gilis [the small islands situated off the north-west tip of Lombok], Meno is your haven of tranquillity – an entirely different experience from what you may find just next door on Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. Just 5km in circumference, Meno serves as home to around 650 Islanders and 50 Western residents. Free from the noise of motorised transport and daily hustle, you can truly unwind on Meno, hearing the sounds of the waves and wildlife, as you take in your tropical surroundings
In recent years, Meno has experienced growth from the overflowing Trawangan and has witnessed an increasing number of resorts and restaurants springing up. This development has added a nice array of modern conveniences, however, the islanders are keen to maintain the peaceful atmosphere. These newer amenities have done little to detract from Gili Meno’s signature slow pace.
Spend your spare time relaxing on the beach, restoring body and soul at the yoga centre, spotting rare birds around the salt lake or taking a sunset horseback ride around the island. Get the real tropical experience in a breathtaking, serene and local atmosphere. If you want to go off the beaten track without actually having to – Gili Meno awaits.
On the northwest of the island is a saltwater lake unique to Gili Meno where salt is harvested in the dry season. This is a great place for nature lovers and birdwatchers! Visit the viewing platform and take in the great view as you pan the skies and trees for a variety of birdlife. It’s a great area to wander to for a late afternoon walk and view the sunset. Don’t forget to keep a look out for the elusive Monitor Lizard!

On the southwest side of the island there is a right-hand reef break known as “Bongkas” that can be enjoyed by intermediate and advanced surfers all within the company of an enthusiastic local crowd. Bring your board as there are no rental facilities on the island.

Gili Meno has a fantastic, friendly local community and you’d be missing out if you didn’t strike up a conversation with a few of them! Before you know it, Meno's locals will be entertaining you: showing you their international musical talents and fire dancing skills all while you enjoy a bonfire on the beach under the evening stars. Sasak Café is a great place to grab a drink and watch the local band play island favourites.
On Gili Meno, you truly are spoilt for choice with a variety of beachfront Warungs (restaurants) on the island serving everything from authentic local dishes and fresh seafood caught daily, to exquisite international cuisine. Tuck yourself into a Baruga (gazebo) at one of the island's charming cafes or bars and treat yourself to a cold beer or cocktail as you listen to the waves lap at the beach shores.
