Now known as Indonesia’s largest dive company, remember that Blue Marlin started out as just one instructor with a couple sets of gear intent on sharing the underwater beauty of the Gilis. 30 years down the road, we are incredibly proud to have earned numerous awards from PADI for our outstanding contributions to diver training, continuing education and the scuba industry.
Take advantage of our large network as all Blue Marlin Dive locations are happy to offer a 10% discount on all continuing education.

If you’re not quite sure diving is for you then the Discover Scuba Diving course is the perfect way to get your feet wet. Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to the underwater world where you’ll get to feel what it’s like to breathe underwater. While not an actual scuba certification course, you’ll still complete basic training in a pool as well as complete a dive in the ocean under the direct supervision of one of our certified PADI professionals.
Short on time but still keen on becoming a certified diver? The Scuba Diver certification is just for you. This course requires less time than the Open Water course, covering only the first three of five sections of knowledge development, the first three of five pool sessions, and the first two of four open water training dives. However, the resulting upgradeable certification will allow you to dive under professional supervision to a depth of 12 metres.
Ready to take the plunge into the world’s most popular scuba course? Over 3 days, cover the fundamentals of scuba diving, learn about equipment and dive techniques through five pool dives, five knowledge development sessions and four open water dives. This certification is your passport to the underwater world. After completion of the course, you will be qualified as a PADI Open Water Diver, able to dive anywhere in the world up to 18 metres.
Would you like to upgrade your Open Water certification but short on time? PADI Adventure Diver is the answer. Explore different styles of diving with your instructor to help you feel more comfortable and confident underwater. You will have the opportunity to try some of diving’s most rewarding and useful specialty activities, such as deep diving, underwater navigation, night diving to name a few.
Improve your diving skills further by choosing from a wide range of PADI Specialty courses, each one designed to challenge skills and excite you. Each course ranges from 2 to 4 dives and you will receive a new certification card. If you aren’t sure which you want to start with, try an Adventure Dive: the first dive of any specialty. If you complete 5 Specialty Courses you are eligible for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating, the highest level in recreational diving.
Building upon what you’ve already learned in previous scuba courses, the PADI Rescue course expands on what you already know about preventing and managing problems. You’ll learn more about topics such as self-rescue, recognising and managing stress in other divers, rescuing panicked and unresponsive divers and emergency management. Most divers find that this course is demanding yet incredibly rewarding.
Emergency First Response is a land-only, theory-based course that will give you the tools you need to manage emergencies and handle potentially life-threatening accidents. As PADI’s extended version of CPR certification, this course is a prerequisite for the Rescue and Divemaster course. Whether you’re a diver or a non-diver, this 1-day course will give you the skills and confidence needed to critically assist someone in the case of an accident or emergency.
If you’ve thought about making diving your life (or maybe just reducing the cost of your holidays!) then becoming a Divemaster is the first step. We treat this leadership level course with the seriousness it deserves while still keeping it fun. You’ll find that there’s no more rewarding experience than following our staff through their work and becoming a part of our team for 4-8 weeks. The more you put in, the more you get out of it.
Come and enjoy life under the sun as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor! If you are interested in a career change, the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) will allow you to share your love of the ocean with others while doing what you love. Our 15-day guaranteed-pass IDC program will train you to not only pass the Instructor Examination but give you the skills and confidence you need to teach your very first course. IDC’s are available in Komodo and Gili Air.
Learning to scuba dive has never been more convenient! Whether you’re on the go or want to take it slow, complete the knowledge development portion of your PADI course online before you arrive.
You can enrol in the full E-learning on the PADI website but do contact your desired dive centre for the current PADI theory options. PADI is forever growing and updating its digital offline versions.
E-learning can save you time on your well-earned holiday. However, some people prefer face-to-face teaching and feel more comfortable being taught in person. It is really up to you. Whether you like a personal interaction with your Instructor during theory time or prefer self-study using the PADI website, both options will allow you to pass your course and have a full understanding of the diving.
The e-learning module is fairly self-explanatory but if you have any questions during the study process, please feel free to contact us.
Why Choose eLearning?
Before you arrive at your chosen Blue Marlin, you must be sure that you are in a suitable physical condition for the sport of diving. At the start of the course, every student must complete and sign a PADI Medical Statement, which includes a number of questions relating to your medical history. By answering the questions, you will discover if you’ll require a doctor’s check-up before taking to the water. (PADI insists on this if your medical history shows a ‘contra-indication’ to participating in diving.)
Answer each question carefully. If you are unsure of the answer to any of the questions, you should answer “yes”. Sign and date the bottom of your statement.
If any of the answers you give to the questions are “yes”, visit your doctor for a medical examination, taking your statement with you to show him/her.
If your doctor is satisfied with your health, you are ready to start your course. However, you must bring BOTH your signed Medical Statement and your doctor’s clearance with you, as we are required to keep these with your training records.
